A four-day workshop aimed at enhancing management skills for air cargo professionals will be conducted by TIACA in Anchorage, Alaska from 29 August to 1 September 2017.
The Professional Development Workshop Program, designed by Strategic Aviation Solutions International (SASI) in partnership with TIACA, gives participants an appreciation of the entire air cargo supply chain and the component sectors by encouraging discussion and the sharing of perspectives, as well as providing practical advice and insight.
“We are very pleased to be providing our expertise to support and invest in the development of air cargo leaders of the future,” said Vladimir Zubkov, Secretary General, TIACA.
“The workshops are designed to provide attendees with a thorough understanding of the needs and challenges of the industry, to give them the tools needed to succeed.”
The Anchorage workshop, hosted by Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, will be led by SASI’s Lilian Tan Keller and Stan Wraight, as well as Charles Edwards.
Participants will take part in practical information sessions, discussion, and debate, as well as have a chance to network with peers and industry veterans.
Topics include market and competitive analysis, brand management, revenue management, understanding and analyzing financial statements, business ethics, and leading teams.

The last workshop, hosted by Southwest Airlines Cargo, took place in Dallas Love Field, Texas and the next workshop, hosted by Air Canada, takes place from 2-5 May, 2017, in Vancouver, Canada.
“This is one of the best classes I’ve attended in my professional career,” said Boyd Hulstine of Southwest Airlines Cargo, and one of the workshop attendees.
“It’s designed to make everyone think outside their comfort zone, while challenging each person to evaluate their knowledge level of supply chain logistics.”
Earlier this year, TIACA also launched a new training initiative aimed at improving collaboration across the air cargo supply chain through the work exchange of young professionals from participating companies.
The initiative saw workers from six companies in the Netherlands take part in a program of visits to gain a better understanding of processes and explore new ways of collaborating.
“Participants gained a thorough understanding into each partner’s activities and discovered new ways of working together; we hope to announce more initiatives from this program in the near future,” said Sebastiaan Scholte, Chief Executive Officer, Jan de Rijk Logistics, and TIACA Vice Chairman.
