Air Canada to launch nonstop Montreal-Shanghai flights
Air Canada has announced the introduction of daily year-round flights from Montreal to Shanghai, China, beginning 16 February 2017. This marks Air Canada's first direct service to China from Montreal as well as the introduction of B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft on the service. Air China said to be interested in 49% stake in LOT Polish Airlines
Representatives of the Polish government are currently holding talks with Chinese investors for the possible sale of some stake in the state airline LOT, Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced on 3 August. Singapore Airlines pulling out of Brazil
Singapore Airlines will terminate its South American passenger operations from 20 October this year meaning it will no longer offer cargo belly capacity into the Brazilian market. The carrier says its three times weekly Singapore Changi-São Paulo Guarulhos via Barcelona El Prat service has suffered from poor passenger loads in recent months thereby warranting its closure. American Airlines has submitted a proposal to the US Department of Transportation to begin daily nonstop service from Los Angeles to the Chinese capital of Beijing, two weeks after Delta Air Lines announced a similar bid.
