AMERICAS: LAN Cargo sees 8% cargo drop in Sept
LAN Airlines said that cargo traffic decreased eight per cent in September, compared with the previous year. This decrease was mainly due to the slowdown in import and export markets in LatinAmerica, as well as the reduction of salmon exports from Chile, the carrier said. In line with the decrease in demand, capacity fell seven per cent, mainly through the reduction of ACMI (Airplane, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) leases. United Airlines said Wednesday it will press ahead with a controversial plan to outsource some international flying to Aer Lingus despite further cutbacks at the Irish carrier, according to Dow Jones.
