SAS, Scandinavia’s biggest airline, isset to cease freighter services and shrink other cargo operations as part of a radicalrestructuring to stem losses and retain itsindependence in the fast consolidatingEuropean airline industry. The part stateownedcarrier said in future its freightunit, SAS Cargo, “will focus on sellingbelly cargo capacity for the group’s airlineoperations.” It said other activities wouldbe discontinued or outsourced to thirdparties. SAS will also sell Spirit Air CargoHandling which operates at 13 airportsin Denmark, Sweden and Norway. SASCargo operates code sharing freighterservice from Scandinavia to Dubai, HongKong and China.
