GEODIS in New Zealand gears up for major expansion with new facility at Auckland Airport

Transport and logistics operator Geodis is set to expand its capacity to move and handle air freight in and out of New Zealand with a new consolidated facility at Auckland Airport.

Twice the size of the current facility at 5,700 square metres, the new site will feature advanced enterprise-grade systems and storage space to boost the French forwarder’s capacity in moving pharma, retail and fast-moving goods amidst supply chain disruptions and heightended consumer demand.

Geodis said it will move to the new facility in October, which will feature temperature-controlled areas for optimal storage of pharmaceutical products, as well as an aisle racking system that can afford 5,000 pallet locations, complete with a warehouse management system to help automate its e-commerce fulfillment operations.

The purpose-built facility will also house the forwarder’s international container freight station (CFS), contract logistics and last mile distribution setup to enable full-service supply chain management under one roof.

Geodis noted that the move underscores the company’s focus on the APAC market and follows a series of investments and advancements made in the region over the past few months.

The logistics provider has signed a long-term lease for the Auckland facility, securing a prime location at one of New Zealand’s main industrial hubs at Auckland Airport with connections to the main arterial routes used for distribution.

“This new site reflects the scale of things to come for our operations in New Zealand,” said Hugh Mackay, Geodis managing director. “Our laser sharp focus on providing a robust set of solutions and unmatched service to our customers holds the key to strengthening our presence in a competitive marketplace.”
