DHL Express is planning to open an air cargo terminal in Mumbai, with further India growth planned.

DHL Express is planning to open an air cargo terminal in Mumbai, with further India growth planned. The company already has two similar facilities at Delhi and Bengaluru airports. DHL said it has a share of about 50 per cent in India’s domestic air cargo market, handling one million shipments a month.
R Subramanian, managing director DHL Express India, said: “We are looking for space at Mumbai airport for an airside terminal. We recently started a courier clearance in Ahmedabad, which will enable us to achieve better efficiency to facilitate the growing international trade from Ahmedabad and Western India.”
“We have a five-pronged strategy for India aimed at developing free trade houses, creating specialised industry verticals, offering products specific to small enterprises, cross-selling DHL brands and investing in talent,” he added. “To strengthen these operations, it also has opened service centre facilities in Chandigarh, Faridabad, Ludhiana, Mysore and Sriperumbudur.”
