CEVA expands semicon logistics footprint in Singapore

CEVA Logistics opened a 95,000 square-foot facility for semiconductor manufacturer ASM International NV's new headquarters in Singapore.

CEVA Logistics was appointed by GM in April 2020 to manage its entire ventilator production supply chain and was responsible for delivering hundreds of parts to the GM Kokomo, Indiana, facility last year.

CEVA Logistics is set to expand its contract logistics business in Singapore with a new facility for semiconductor manufacturer ASM International NV.

The 95,000 square-foot facility will be located at ASM Internationals new global manufacturing headquarters in Singapore, where CEVA will provide contract logistics support at a state-of-the-art, in-house operations site, with on-site and off-site warehouse management.

CEVA Logistics will provide critical logistics support, such as inventory and storage management, spare part management, kitting, trash removal and cleanroom packing, along with other value-added services supporting manufacturing activities, including transportation.

The logistics leaders says this marks an expansion of its footprint locally in Singapore and reinforces its position as a key service provider for the specialized requirements of the semiconductor industry. It added that around 150 people will be operating at the site by the end of 2021 to maximize warehouse management operations.

Elaine Low, managing director, SEAPAC, CEVA Logistics, cited global demand for smart devices and components as a driver for the semiconductor industry which has been a ‘fast-growing sector’ for the company.

ASM International NV specializes in the design and manufacture of semiconductor wafer processing equipment for the fabrication of semiconductor devices.

According to World Semiconductor Trade Statistics latest forecast from May 2021, the world market for these devices is set to grow by almost 20 percent in the remainder of 2021 with the current annual market size at approximately US$527 million. All major product categories within the field are expected to show double-digit annual growth, with the strongest increase shown in Asia Pacific.
