Starting with this October issue, Don Urquhart (44) has taken over the overall editorial responsibilities of Payload Asia magazine. He joined the magazine as editor on September 1. Canadian-born Urquhart is very familiar with the transportation industry, having worked as transport reporter for the Singapore Business Times (BT) for 7 years where his primary beat was to cover the shipping industry with a secondary focuson the logistics and commercial aviation sectors.
During that time he won several awards for his coverage, including Singapore Press Holdings’ Story of the Year (2006) for his coverage of PSA International’s bidding war with Dubai World to buy the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O) and Commentary of the Year for his coverage of Neptune Orient Lines.
Prior to joining BT, Urquhart worked for several years with various consumer lifestyle magazines in various roles including as editor.
As co-founder of the trade magazine I have been publisher and editor of Payload Asia for almost 22 years. I will continue as publisher and, as editor-at-large, and will contribute regularly on various air cargo-related subjects to the magazine. I will also continue as organiser of the Air Freight Asia Conference & Exhibition scheduled for 2009.
