Swiss WorldCargo to test drone deliveries
Drones will soon be used to deliver packages in Switzerland as part of a pilot project by Swiss Post. Tests are already underway in the US in a collaboration with Swiss WorldCargo, using drones by California manufacturer Matternet, a firm primarily focused on developing airborne options for health care in developing countries. There was an average of three major cargo crimes a day targeting high value, theft-attractive products in the supply chain in Europe in 2014 with an average loss of €205,624, according to the Transported Asset Protection Association’s (TAPA) 2014 Incident Information Service (IIS) Annual Report for the EMEA region. Schiphol tonnages hit by slowing Chinese output
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol’s cargo throughput totalled 385,842 tonnes in the first three months of 2015, down 1.8 per cent on 2014.
