Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) has announced that the company has signed a contract with San Francisco based aircraft leasing company, World Star Aviation, to provide an 11 pallet position B737-400SF freighter conversion. The aircraft built in 1990 is standard gross weight and is being modified at Commercial Jet’s Dothan, AL facility. The freighter will be re-delivered to World Star in June of 2016. Lithium battery issue reignited after US safety regulators issue alerts
Earlier this week the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a safety alert to US and foreign commercial passenger and cargo airlines, urging them to conduct a safety risk assessment to manage the risks associated with transporting lithium batteries as cargo. ICAO reaches agreement on CO2 emissions standard
Governments, industry and environmental groups meeting at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) have finalised the design of the first global certification standard for CO2 emissions from new aircraft. The first A350-900 for Singapore Airlines completed its maiden flight over the skies of South West France yesterday. Assembly of the main airframe sections of the first A350 XWB for China Airlines is advancing at Airbus’ Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Toulouse, France. This involves the assembly of the wing-fuselage junction, the installation of the tailplane and also the tailcone. Virgin Atlantic is set to announce an order for up to twelve A350-1000s according to a report in Bloomberg. Quoting unnamed sources, the news wire said the UK carrier is expected to acquire nine of the aircraft with the remainder to be leased. The move, should reports prove accurate, is the result of Virgin’s analysis into replacements for its B747-400 fleet.
