LATAM Cargo Brazil has inaugurated its second largest cargo hub (connection centre) in the country at Brasília International Airport (BSB) on 9 November.
The new cargo terminal (TECA) occupies a total area of 13,500 square metres, with 6,260 square metres of constructed area and 5,121 square metres of storage area, which has eight levels of positions for vertical storage.
The new cargo hub, which has 66 percent more floor area than the previous, has exclusive parking, covered docks for loading and unloading cargo, and a specific area for shipments under 30 kilograms.
Otávio Meneguette, director of LATAM Cargo Brasil, said the new terminal will have a modern operation to ensure less cargo handling, better sorting and much more agility in the processes.
LATAM Cargo has been investing in the infrastructure of its cargo terminals throughout Brazil, including construction or expansion of terminals in Guarulhos, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Uberlândia, Ribeirão Preto, Belém and Galeão, in Rio de Janeiro.
“We continue to look to the future, attentive to changes in the logistics chain in our market, with an even more sustainable company in the long term and at a time when air cargo transportation is even more essential, both for transporting health supplies and the other items,” said Meneguette.
Last week the cargo carrier partnered with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics to transport 10 RAPs of pharma cargo from Frankfurt (FRA) to Guarulhos (GRU) under its under Pharma Active care offering. It is currently pursuing a renewal of its CEIV Pharma accreditation through a re-certification audit.
