flydubai and Air Arabia were the launch customers for Swissport Oman, a subsidiary of Swissport international, as they began operations at Muscat International Airport. They are responsible for providing comprehensive ground handling services including passenger and ramp handling, baggage services, operations coordination and load control for a total of 10 daily regional flights.
In order to achieve outstanding operations from the beginning, Swissport Oman has invested considerable amounts in new equipment and well-trained staff, Oman-based and from overseas. Moreover, trainers and other support staff from 18 different countries have been flown in to assist on site.
To celebrate this successful start-up project, Swissport and its local joint venture partner, the Al Jarwani Group, organized an event at Muscat’s Millennium Hotel. Among the notable guests were the Chairman of OAMC (Oman Airports Management Company), Chairman of PACA (Public Authority of Civil Aviation) and numerous other VVIPs of the Omani transport and aviation industry.
During his keynote speech, Swissport’s Senior Vice President Ground Handling Middle East and Africa, Mark Skinner, stated “To be able to enter Oman, another promising new market for Swissport in the Middle East, makes us proud. We want to thank our joint venture partner, the Al Jarwani Group, and all local authorities for their great support and professionalism.”
Swissport International Ltd provides ground services for more than 230 million passengers and handles 4.3 million tonnes of cargo a year on behalf of about 835 client-companies.
