DHL has developed a new, pioneeringtechnology for the pharmaceuticalindustry that significantly improves themonitoring of temperature-controlledshipments.
The new sensor tag is a combinationof temperature sensor and RFID radiochip. It permits continuous monitoringand recording of a pre-definedtemperature range as well as read-outof the data at any time, without havingto open the shipment.
The sensor’s design enables it tobe attached close to the product, notjust on the inside of the packaging asbefore. In addition, the current lifespan of the product can be calculatedand read out at any time.
This was previously possible only atthe end of a transport. DHL developedthe sensor tag together with IBM andthe pharmaceutical industry.
