DB Schenker, Lufthansa Cargo on track to save 20,000 tonnes of CO2
After five years of a strategic partnership between transportation and logistics company DB Schenker and air freight specialist Lufthansa Cargo, both companies have saved 10,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide with another 10,000 tonnes expected to follow by 2020. Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific under one roof for Hong Kong cargo handling
As a key milestone of the joint business agreement (JBA) between Lufthansa Cargo and Cathay Pacific Cargo, which was announced in May, Europe’s largest air cargo carrier has moved its local freight handling into the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal (CPCT) in Hong Kong. Cathay Pacific Cargo sees cargo revenue drop 17% in 1H
Fierce competition, excess capacity and suspended fuel surcharges saw cargo revenue at Cathay Pacific falling 17.2 per cent in the first half to US$1.2 billion. The decline occured despite a marginal increase in the tonnage carried in the first six months of 0.2 per cent, which was offset by a 0.6 per cent increase in capacity of both Cathay Pacific and Dragonair that pulled the load factors down to 62.2 per cent, the carrier said.
