Dubai Airports and the operator of India's Hyderabad airport, GMR Hyderabad, have signed an MoU to set up an air freight corridor to aid in the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines, following India’s recent approval of two vaccine candidates for emergency use. A cargo vessel loaded with commodities manufactured in China departed from Shenzhen for Dubai, a city on the southeast coast of the Arabian Gulf and an important stop on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. Dnata, one of the world’s largest air services providers, reached a key milestone in its operation at Dubai World Central (DWC), handling over one million tonnes of air freight since its first full year of operation in 2011. Dubai Airports has confirmed its US$ 1.2 billion (AED 4.3 billion) investment in new and upgraded facilities for the over 110 international airlines that operate from Dubai International’s Terminals 1 and 2.
