AMERICAS: LAN Cargo sees 8% cargo drop in Sept
LAN Airlines said that cargo traffic decreased eight per cent in September, compared with the previous year. This decrease was mainly due to the slowdown in import and export markets in LatinAmerica, as well as the reduction of salmon exports from Chile, the carrier said. United Airlines said Wednesday it will press ahead with a controversial plan to outsource some international flying to Aer Lingus despite further cutbacks at the Irish carrier, according to Dow Jones. The airlines announced an “innovative†plan last January that would see Aer Lingus operate flights from Madrid to the US beginning in March on behalf of United, but using Aer Lingus planes. Canada’s Cargojet has entered into a strategic aircraft lease agreement with LOT Polish Airlines effective 7 November. AMERICAS:United posts $63 million loss for Q3
UAL Corporation, the holding company of United Airlines, reported a net loss of $63 million for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 2009.
