An Itek Air passenger jet crashedshortly after takeoff on Sunday fromBishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, killing68 people, including members of a highschool sports team, Kyrgyz governmentofficials told news agencies. Officials saidthe jet, a Boeing 737, was just minutes intoits flight to Tehran when its crew reporteddifficulties and began heading back, butthe plane crashed before it reached ManasInternational Airport outside the city.
