Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a contingency horse handling centre to prepare for the upcoming 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Events in Hong Kong.
The area, with a total of 3,269-square metres, will act as a back-up staging area for the competition horses of the Equestrian Events as well as additional facilities for unit load device (ULD) handling in close proximity to the existing Hactl ULD Centre. The total investment of the facility, which is expected to commence operations in July 2008, is approximately HK$14million (US$1.8 million).
