GE has an installed base of more than 23,000 commercial aircraft engines and a GE spokesperson said the company wants to be able to expand the business and to protect proprietary repair processes, adding that Singapore is a key location for GE.
ATI-Singapore currently employs around 535 employees and repairs more than two million compressor airfoils per year. The JV was set up in 1998 to service CF6 and CFM56 engine family compressor airfoils, but it has expanded to service all GE commercial aviation, marine and industrial engines as well as Pratt & Whitney and Honeywell components.
