Turkish air cargo carrier MNG Airlines has upgraded its fleet with the addition of an A300-600 freighter purchased from Icelandic company Air Atlanta and belonging to Avinco. The new freighter joins its existing fleet of eight A300-200F and five Fokker F27 cargo planes.
The A300-600F has a take off capacity of 170 tonnes with a freight capacity of 49 tonnes, and is 20 per cent more fuel efficient then the A300-200Fs it operates.MNG said it hoped to reduce fuel costs by US$5.6 million by changing the other aircraft, which were currently consuming 7.2 million tonnes of fuel per year, to the newer model. MNG said it planned to buy an additional A300-600F this year.
