Copenhagen Airports A/S in Denmark has announced an agreement with US based global express operator FedEx Express to provide a new purpose-build cargo facility, including office space, in a deal up to at least 2023.
The airport company said the approximately 1,600 sqm cargo facility, which would be tailored to the needs of FedEx Express, would have both air side and land side access, as well as a 770 sqm office building. Both facilities are expected to be operational by spring 2009.
Brian Petersen, CEO of Copenhagen Airports, said the contract with FedEx Express would strengthen Copenhagen’s position as the primary cargo centre in Scandinavia. “FedEx Express is a global express transportation operator and our partnership will further strengthen our position as the transport hub of Scandinavia. It is our ambition to further develop the cargo area at Copenhagen Airport in the years to come. The partnership with FedEx Express is the first step in that direction.”
