Cargo 2000 has created a new lower cost category of membership in a bid to encourage more medium-sized airlines and freight forwarders to join its quality management system.
The new Regional Membership category is available to any company with operations in up to five countries and up to 20 sites in their network. In all, there are three tiers of Regional Membership. The main category requires applicants to comply with the Cargo 2000 Quality Management System requirements and to be certified accordingly. They are required to achieve and maintain Phase 1 certification at one major site within 12 months of joining.
The Associate and Industry Associate categories of Regional Membership are designed to support companies at an earlier stage in their quality program as well as service providers that must be operating in at least one of the gateways agreed upon with Cargo 2000.
The cost of Regional Membership is US$10,000 per annum compared to the Global Membership cost of $25,000. Regional Associate Members will pay an annual fee of $5,000 while Regional Industry Associates will have a fee of $10,000 per annum, $15,000 less than the equivalent Global Membership cost.
Separately, Netherlands-based global supply chain management provider CEVA Logistics has joined Cargo 2000 as an associate member to realise new opportunities for "productivity gains, cost efficiencies and further quality improvements in customer service," it said.
