Air India has indicated it may sell its six B737-200 freighters giving rise to speculation that the carrier may shelve its plans to spin off its cargo business into a separate subsidiary, according to Indian media reports. Four A310 freighters have already been sold off earlier. The six B737-200 freighters came into the fleet through the merger with Indian Airlines and were converted into freighters from passenger aircraft in 2007 as the airline prepared to launch a dedicated domestic cargo service, using Nagpur as its as the hub.
