Panalpina begins ops at new Dubai facility

Global forwarder Panalpina has commenced operations from its new 41,800 sq metre multimodal transit and logistics hub in the Dubai Logistics Cityfree trade zone.

The new facility consists of 2,787 sq metre office space, a 11,148 sq metre multipurpose logistics operating area with 10,000 VNA (very narrow aisle) pallet positions in a temperaturecontrolled ambient environment and a 13,900 sq metre lay down area. The facility will be TAPA A certified, it has 23 gates including one mega door, 10 dock levellers, air cargo pallet roller beds and 13.7 metre ceiling height.

Located in the Dubai Logistics City free trade zone adjacent to the new Al Maktoum International Airport and the Jebel Ali seaport between Dubai city centre and Abu Dhabi, Panalpina says that it that will provide customers with improved cost and service efficiencies in the United Arab Emirates and across the Persian Gulf region.

“This facility represents a milestone in our expansion strategy in the Middle East,” said Panalpina MD of the Arabian Belt area, Claus Schmidt.

“It will allow us to significantly increase our services offerings in supply chain management by providing a seamless integration of international air, ocean and trucking services with our logistics and order fulfillment services.”
