Belly Ache - Payload Asia February 2010 Issue

‘One man’s junk, is another man’s treasure’

We can’t think of a better tagline than that for this next item. Remember the so-called ‘Miracle onthe Hudson’ last year?

You may recall the US Airways Flight 1549 that ditched safely in the icy waters of New York’s Hudson river with 155 people onboard after an unsuccessful duel with a flock of Canada Geese. Well, now you have a chance to buy a, rather big, piece of history because the A320-214 is now up for sale! Listed for sale “AS IS/WHERE IS” at a salvage yard in Kearny, New Jersey the plane will soon be auctioned off.

You will need a few DIY skills however, as the wings, included in the sale, have been separated from the body. The bid description also lists “severe water damage throughout the airframe” and “impact damage to underside of aircraft.” Oh, and the engines are not included — we reckon you wouldn’t want them anyway on account of the goose puree contained within.
