AAT sees 15% decline in 2009 with Dec surge

Asia Airfreight Terminal Co Ltd (AAT) announced its tonnage throughput for the year of 2009 was 514,200 tonnes, a decrease of 15 per cent compared with2008.

In the month of December 2009, a total of 54,047 tonnes was handled by AAT, recording an increase of 35 per cent when compared with the same month last year when volumes were in sharp decline. Export cargo for the month of December registered 38,506 tonnes, a growth of 50 per cent while import cargo recorded 15,284 tonnes, up 7 per cent against same period last year. Transhipment cargo volume showed a drop of 5 per cent to 258 tonnes.

Cumulative export tonnage from January to December 2009 registered 348,469 tonnes, representing a year-onyear decrease of 15 per cent. Total import tonnage from January to December 2009 decreased by 16 per cent compared against same period last year, to 161,150 tonnes. Transhipment cargo volume for the year of 2009 was 4,581 tonnes, up 11per cent.
