AeroLogic takes delivery of first B777F

Arriving from a non-stop flight from Boeing’s plant in Seattle, USA, the first of eight brand-new AeroLogic Boeing 777 freighters landed at Leipzig/Halle Airport, the home of the new freight airline AeroLogic, a joint venture between DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo.

The aircraft is the first Boeing 777 freighter aircraft registered in Germany. The second aircraft is scheduled to follow in July 2009, numbers three and four are expected in December 2009. By the end of 2010, the AeroLogic fleet will grow to a total of eight Boeing 777Fs.

The twin-engine, wide-body B777F has a maximum payload capacity of 103 tonnes and can fly distances of over 9,000 km, which AeroLogic says is ideally suited for its long-haul, non-stop Europe-Asia routes. AeroLogic plans to start its scheduled services on 29 June.

“The B777F is the perfect airplane for a start-up cargo operation such as ourselves; its combination of reliability and efficiency will allow us to quickly establish the company as a leading force in the industry,” said Thomas Pusch, managing director of AeroLogic.
