Profile of Payload Asia

The Air Freight Magazine for the Asia-Pacific and Middle-East Regions

Now in its 33th year of publication, Payload Asia continues to be the authoritative source for informative, accurate and up-todate news and information on the air cargo industry and related sectors. With its updated and refreshed look the print edition continues to provide high quality coverage on the Asia-Pacific, India-Middle East, Europe-CIS, North & South America and Africa air cargo markets. Additionally, the www.payloadasia.com website provides updated news and a searchable archive to keep our readers up-to-date in this rapidly changing environment.

A popular weekly e-newsletter also provides a timely and convenient snapshot of the latest industry developments and the magazine now has a fully electronic version in the form of an ‘e-book’. The e-book is emailed to subscribers once the print version is completed and offers readers the unique experience of the full print version, but online.

Established in 1984, Payload Asia continues to be the respected industry voice of the air freight industry in the Asia-Pacific and India-Middle East regions. With experienced air cargo correspondents around the world reporting to the publication’s editor based in Singapore, Payload Asia’s breadth and depth of news and analysis of industry developments and trends from an Asian regional perspective is unparalleled. Alongside Singapore-based editor Donald Urquhart is his team of regularly contributing specialists in Hong Kong, Bangkok, New Delhi, the UK, Germany and the US, as well as a handful of ad hoc contributors around the globe.

In 2017, Payload Asia will continue its tradition of editorial excellence, independence and topical relevance with a host of cover stories, features, profiles and supplements alongside the extensive news updates, exploring the issues of vital importance to the air cargo industry and its multifarious players. Continually adapting to the evermore rapidly changing air cargo industry, Payload Asia will continue to refocus, expand or add new subject areas aimed at providing our readers with the very best editorial content possible as the environment dictates.

Payload Asia will continue its coverage of environmental issues — which have been given prominent coverage as both a cover story and supplement over the past two years. Likewise, security has become a key issue amongst the cargo community and this year we will again zoom in on the latest developments.

The topic will provide a good opportunity to review progress on that front as well as what is taking place in various jurisdictions around the globe and advances in both technology and its certification and adoption.

This year will also see continued coverage on e-freight, which at the time of writing has suffered from low up-take rates, but in recent months has seen a steady rise in advocacy from numerous fronts within the industry.Payload Asia will continue to look at the issue from multiple perspectives, including the carriers and their association, IATA, freight forwarders and their various associations, the recently formed Global Air Cargo Advisory Group (GACAG) as well as IT solutions providers.

In the Profile section, existing and new players will be featured and the line-up for supplements has been broadened by having some topics focused on geographical areas. Each issue will of course continue with its coverage of key industry segments including: Express and mail, logistics, ground handling, airports, technology and equipment and so on. And for the devout fans of the humour page known as Belly Ache, fear not as this page will undoubtedly out-live us all.

It all adds up to an exciting integrated print and electronic platform for discerning executives, managers and industry participants keen on staying abreast of the latest industry developments and for those companies wishing to reach out to this dynamic industry by raising their profile through advertisements in the print edition and electronically in the e-newsletter and on the website.
