Philippine low cost carrier Cebu Pacific and its local logistics and warehouse partner, Cargohaus have opened a cargo inspection terminal at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal-3, to screen import and export cargo shipments.

Philippine low cost carrier Cebu Pacific and its local logistics and warehouse partner, Cargohaus have opened a cargo inspection terminal at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal-3, to screen import and export cargo shipments.

The air cargo inspection portal is the first of its kind in Asia, can accommodate and screen up to nine tonnes of air cargo dollies and ULDs and is powered by a low-energy X-ray source. It uses advanced material discrimination software that provides high-quality images of the contents of freight and baggage.

“CEB is proud to be the fi rst carrier to use this state-of-the-art air cargo inspection portal. Enhanced speed and accuracy of cargo inspection would greatly benefi t our shippers and consignees, as we continue to operate airport-to-airport cargo delivery via our extensive route network,” said Joey Macagga, CEB VP for Fuel and Cargo Operations.

Th e Smiths Detection CIP-300 air cargo inspection portal will be for Cebu Pacifi c’s priority use for all transhipment cargo loaded on international fl ights to and from Manila, the airline said in a statement.

Cebu Cargo currently serves 34 domestic and 27 international destinations and also handles transhipments through 21 global interline partners.
