Yangtze River to begin maindeck to Brussels

Brussels Airport has won over another carrier with China’s Yangtze River Express introducing three weekly stops in the Belgian capital with its B747-400F ‘round the world’ service, from 29 March on a Shanghai-Chicago-Brussels-Munich- China routing. The Yangtze service will add around 15,000 tonnes of cargo to Brussels’ annual throughput. Yangtze’s sister company in the Hainan Group, Hainan Airlines, currently operates a passenger aircraft to Brussels.

Yangtze’s arrival follows the announcement by Canadian carrier Kelowna Flightcraft that it will begin operating a direct four-times weekly service between Toronto and Brussels with DC10-30 freighters this spring. Earlier this year, Ethiopian Airlines Cargo launched a four-times weekly B777 freighter service between Brussels and Addis Ababa and Qatar Airways a twice-weekly ‘Pharma Express’ freighter service linking Brussels and Basel with Doha.
