SW Italia gains AOC to begin cargo ops

Milan-Malpensa-based SW Italia - a subsidiary of Baku, Azerbaijan-based Silk Way West Airlines – has secured its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from the Italian civil aviation authority following the recent arrival of its first aircraft – a B747- 400F from its Silk Way West parent.

Milan-Malpensa-based SW Italia – a subsidiary of Baku, Azerbaijan-based Silk Way West Airlines – has secured its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from the Italian civil aviation authority following the recent arrival of its first aircraft – a B747- 400F from its Silk Way West parent.

The new maindeck airline is 58 per cent owned by Italian private investors with Silk Way Airlines holding the remainder. With its certification now complete, it plans to offer scheduled flights from Milan to Hong Kong via Baku initially before expanding to the US and Latin America.
