Cargo volumes (airfreight and airmail) at Frankfurt Airport advanced in 2014, rising by 1.7 per cent to about 2.2 million tonnes by year-end. Aircraft movements edged down by 0.8 per cent to about 469,000 takeoffs and landings, reflecting the ongoing trend towards larger aircraft and better capacity utilisation along with higher passenger and cargo volumes. Simultaneously, accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) increased by 1.9 per cent to about 29 million tonnes.

 

Frankfurt Airport also achieved a new record in 2014 with some 59.57 million passengers passing through Germany’s largest aviation hub in 2014, an increase of 2.6 per cent year-on-year.

 

In the reporting month of December 2014, FRA saw cargo volumes slip by 1.4 per cent year-on-year, to 176,241 tonnes. Aircraft movements also declined by 5.2 per cent to 32,954 takeoffs and landings, while accumulated MTOWs contracted 1.1 per cent to 2.1 million tonnes.
