Chinese LCC West Air eyes int’l services

Chongqing-based West Air has applied for an expansion of its license to include international operations to serve Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, as well as other international routes to neighbouring countries. The low-cost carrier is majority owned by HNA Group, the parent of Hainan Airlines and also has small bases in Sanya and Zhengzhou.

Chongqing-based West Air has applied for an expansion of its license to include international operations to serve Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, as well as other international routes to neighbouring countries. The low-cost carrier is majority owned by HNA Group, the parent of Hainan Airlines and also has small bases in Sanya and Zhengzhou. The carrier currently operates four A319-100s and 13 A320-200s to 18 domestic destinations out of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.
