MASkargo has selected the cloud-based Unisys logistics management system (LMS) to manage its domestic and international cargo services.

Under the contract with Malaysian Airline System Berhad, Unisys will replace MASkargo’s current in-house mainframe-based system with the cloud-based LMS service. The Unisys system will interface with MASkargo’s automated robotic warehouse and revenue management systems.

“We selected the Unisys cloud-based cargo solution because it is quick to implement, and gives MASkargo access to an enhanced modern system that is continuously updated. We are confident that the Unisys system will add value to our mission to Keep Business Moving via an advanced cargo systems and processes,” said Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, acting chief executive officer of MASkargo.

Christopher Shawdon, vice president Logistics Solutions for Unisys said: “We are delighted to welcome MASkargo into our community of leading air carriers using our Logistics Management System.  As LMS is a cloud service, we are able to make it available and working with MASkargo’s customised warehouse and revenue management systems within months.”

According to Unisys, the cloud-based delivery model allows airlines to reduce costs compared to running in-house systems, and enables enhancements to be deployed each month and made immediately available to clients.  The cloud model also helps drives community collaboration in software development among airline clients and enables airlines to respond quickly to constantly changing air cargo industry requirements.
