Pakistan International Airlines(PIA) has become the only airlinefrom 14 high risk or ‘red’ countries toachieve the European Union’s Cargo or Mail Carrier operating into theUnion from a Third Country (ACC3)validation, the tough new regulationfor air cargo shipments to Europe.

Pakistan International Airlines(PIA) has become the only airlinefrom 14 high risk or ‘red’ countries toachieve the European Union’s Cargo or Mail Carrier operating into theUnion from a Third Country (ACC3)validation, the tough new regulationfor air cargo shipments to Europe. PIAembarked upon implementing theregulation in April 2014, but suffereda setback when it was temporarilybanned following a deadly attack onKarachi airport and another aircraftcoming under attack while landing atPeshawar airport in June this year. Aspart of its certification process, PIAprocured screening equipment includingDual View Rapiscan machines andExplosive Trace Detectors for three majorPakistani airports: Karachi, Lahore andIslamabad. Airline officials also weretrained by UK instructors in order toimplement the regulations effectively.
