DHL launches new intra-Asia express service

DHL Express has launched a new intra- Asia flight, connecting the economies of Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong.

The flight commenced on 3 November, connecting Bangkok, Hanoi and Hong Kong five times per week. Utilising a newly converted B737-400SF freighter featuring a gross payload of 21 tonnes, the route will be operated by K-Mile Air of Thailand, a partner of DHL.

Sean Wall, executive VP, Network Operations and Aviation of DHL Express Asia Pacific, said: “The new route is just one of the many investments by DHL to enhance our offerings and service standards in view of the enormous growth potential in Asia Pacific. We currently operate approximately 20 dedicated aircraft and four main air hubs in the region. On average, we have around 760 daily domestic and international flights serving over 40 local countries and territories.”

Along with the opening of the new route, DHL also upgraded the air route Penang-Hong Kong-HCM City on 7 November from five to six days per week, which has contributed to increasing the capacity to handle the volume of shipments by 20 per cent on this route.
