DHL Supply Chain, a leading logistics company, announced the construction of a new mega warehouse in Shah Alam, Malaysia. The Malaysia Integrated Logistics Centre (ILC) is a landmark RM100 million (€24 million) investment and with a footprint in excess of 92,900sqm, it the largest warehouse in Malaysia and will increase DHL Supply Chains warehouse footprint in the country by over 100 per cent.
“The contract logistics market in Malaysia has shown impressive growth in recent years and this trend is forecast to continue. We’ve therefore identified the country as key to our growth strategy and made the important investment,” said Prakash Rochlani, managing director, DHL Supply Chain Malaysia.
Featuring the use of the first doubleramp system in Malaysia, the facility will provide state-of-the-art warehousing and supply chain solutions to cater to the growing demands of their local and global customers in the FMCG, technology and retail markets, Rochlani said. The ILC will also be used to grow DHLs automotive, engineering and manufacturing, and life science and healthcare portfolios.
“We plan to create a true multiuser site to support customers across a broad spectrum of industries who will benefit from the synergies created from sharing resources. Warehousing services will be offered with a wide variety of complimentary value-added activities designed to optimize our customers supply chain activities; including copacking and technical services,” he added.
