China’s Urumqi Airlines – 70/30 joint venture between Hainan Airlines and the Urumqi Urban Construction Investment Co. – has been granted its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

China’s Urumqi Airlines – 70/30 joint venture between Hainan Airlines and the Urumqi Urban Construction Investment Co. – has been granted its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Backed with CNY3 billion (US$486 million) in start-up capital, the new carrier will operate two B737-800s and a B737-300 leased from HNA Group for its initial operations.

The carrier will offer both passenger and cargo operations on both domestic services, including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as unspecified international services.
