Fraport Cargo Services (FCS) has opened in early July, its new special storage facility for temperaturesensitive shipments at 15 to 25 degrees, a temperature which is especially required for the correct intermediate storage of sensitive medicinal products.

Previously the FCS warehouse had only one refrigerated section for storage of medicines such as insulin at a temperature of between 2 and 8 degrees.

The new storage area which is integrated in the FCS warehouse now also makes storage possible at a higher moderate temperature of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. The temperature is monitored continuously and in case of derivation action can be taken remotely, as well as on site around-the-clock.

“We have worked out new procedures and processing standards for import and export when dealing with this sensitive cargo so that as little time as possible elapses between the refrigerated truck and the refrigerated warehouse” explains Diana Schöneich, MD of FCS.

In addition, FCS has created its own special handling crew, which is trained in handling temperature-controlled projects.
