Skymark finally gets A330s airborne

Tokyo Haneda-based SkymarkAirlines will début its maiden A330-300 operations on 14 June with TokyoHaneda to Fukuoka flights. Thedate, which follows three previouspostponements, will also mark the type’sfirst flights within Japan. Although theA330-300 received its Validation TypeCertificate (VTC) from the JapaneseMinistry of Land, Infrastructure,Transport and Tourism in January2014, Skymark has blamed a lengthytype safety certification process coupledwith a longer-than-expected stafffamiliarisation programme for thedelays. The carrier currently has takendelivery of two A330-300s out of a totalof ten ordered.
