Bangkok Airways aims for July IPO

Bangkok Airways is set to go public in July, with plans to use funds raised to acquire more aircraft and expand its current route network. Initial plans to float a 25 per cent stake in the airline last year were put on hold when the Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission raised concerns over the airline’s method of accounting property. However, Bangkok Airways president and owner, Capt Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, says those concerns have now been resolved with the IPO now scheduled for late July. Despite the recent political and social unrest that culminated in an army-backed coup d’etat in May, Puttipong is confident his airline will reach its target of raising US$308.4 million.
