IAG Cargo has announced an increase in frequency on its London Heathrow to Mexico City route with an additional weekly flight providing extra capacity to this strategic market, with the new service set to begin on 27 April. The expanded schedule will see the number of flights per week increasing from five to six.

“With the increasing importance of emerging markets, it is essential that we provide enough capacity to serve these key areas and support our customers’ future growth,” said Rodrigo Casal, regional commercial manager for LATAM at IAG Cargo. “The additional flight, which is to be served by a B747, will see a 20 per cent boost in airfreight capacity for our customers as well as increasing the level of flexibility for global businesses in this region.”

These flights are also key to the transportation of one of Mexico’s significant exports – perishable goods such as berries, papayas and mangoes – for key European export destinations including Amsterdam, Paris and Madrid. This is in addition to supporting other growing markets in Mexico, such as car manufacturing and FMCGs.
