Frankfurt Airport (FRA) saw a cargothroughput (airfreight and airmail)rising by 7.2 per cent to 160,970 tonnesin January 2014, benefiting from thehigh demand in Far Eastern traffic priorto the Chinese New Year celebrations. Aircraft movements increased by 1.2per cent to 35,521 takeoffs and landings.

Accumulated maximum takeoff weights(MTOWs) rose by 2.8 per cent to 2.15million tonnes. Traffic developmentin January 2014 was influenced bygrowing demand in the aviation market,in combination with the low base-yeareffect from the corresponding month lastyear. In 2013, FRA experienced an overproportionalnumber of weather-relatedflight cancellations.
