AirAsia gets green light for Thai long-haul airline

Thai AirAsia X to operate two A330s in first year of operations.


Thailand’s Department of Civil Aviation granted an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) to Thai AirAsia X this week, allowing the airline to commence operations from Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport.

The new airline will initially lease two Airbus A330-300s for its first year of operations, before expanding its fleet in the future. AirAsia X for 25 new A330s, several of which are expected to be operated by its Thai unit.
