Mactan-Cebu project to go to GMR/Megawide

The Philippine Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is set to award a public-private partnership (PPP) contract for the Mactan-Cebu International Airport project to a consortium led by Megawide Construction and Indian airport operator GMR Infrastructure after it submitted the highest bid of P14.4 billion (US$311 million).

The Philippine Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is set to award a public-private partnership (PPP) contract for the Mactan-Cebu International Airport project to a consortium led by Megawide Construction and Indian airport operator GMR Infrastructure after it submitted the highest bid of P14.4 billion (US$311 million).

GMR Airports manages the Delhi and Hyderabad airports in India and the Istanbul Sabiha Gocken Airport in Turkey, and has operated the Male’ airport in Maldives. The consortium beat out other competitors including Singapore’s Changi Airport International (CAI), the operating partner of Philippine’s Filinvest and the third entrant, Incheon International Airport.
