Athens International airport has recently undertaken the transfer of 10 very rare Griffon vultures from Athens to Cyprus. The wild birds were initially sent from the Natural History Museum of Crete (NHMC) to the Associations for the Protection and Welfare of Wildlife “ANIMA / ALKYONI” (Athens/Paros island) for treatment and recovery.

Thereafter, the birds were processed by Goldair Handling before being flown to their new home in Cyprus, where it is hoped they will be able to be released and breed.
