On February 1st, Xiamen welcomed its first ever B747-8 freighter service from Beijing. Then on February 3, Cargolux performed its inaugural B747-8F service to South America by starting services to Latacunga. The return flight touched down in Aguadilla – another first for the carrier.
70 Cargolux destinations are now cleared for B747-8F operations and according to the carrier, Vietnam is expected to approve its airports in the near future. On the other hand, Brazil remains one of the last countries in the Cargolux network that has not certified its airports for the B747-8F aircraft. Cargolux will continue to serve South America’s largest economy with B747-400 equipment.
