Turkey has chalked out plans to build the largest airport in the world in Istanbul that will be able to handle 150 million passengers per year. The airport project — to cost more than $9.3 billion – will be Istanbul’s third and have a total of six runways. According to Turkish transport minister Binali Yildirim, the deadline for bids would be May 3. The tender for the four-stage project will be for a 25-year lease. Among the companies that have bid for the project are Turkish airport operator and builder TAV and construction company Limak.
