The Philippines’ Cebu Pacific (CEB) has announced it will operate direct daily flights between Manila and Dubai utilising A330-300 aircraft, beginning 7 October 2013, making it the only Philippine carrier to fly direct to Dubai from Manila and marking the carrier’s first long haul route.

“Dubai is the largest long-haul market to and from the Philippines, so CEB is proud to be the only Philippine carrier to fly direct between Manila and Dubai. According to IATA PaxIS data, more than 70 per cent of passengers on this route take multiple stops and connecting flights, so we definitely look forward to serving this market,” said Alex Reyes, Cebu Pacific general manager, Long Haul Division.

CEB previously announced that it will lease up to eight A330-300 aircraft for its long haul operations with the carrier taking delivery of two A330s this year and an additional two in 2014. The A330 has a range of up to 11 hours which means CEB could serve markets such as Australia, Middle East, parts of Europe and the US.
