TNT Express is taking legal action against its former chief executive Marie-Christine Lombard and prevent her from working for Geodis. Lombard was announced as Geodis’ chief executive in October this year.
According to media reports, a TNT spokesman said that Geodis was one of its competitors because it does express deliveries and since “Lombard has expertise, experience and a network”, that is what is being objected to.
Apparently, Lombard’s contract had mentioned a 12-month ban on working for the competition and that she had to get clearance from TNT Express’ supervisory board before taking up a new job. However, in the week after she left, the supervisory board chairman Antony Burgmans said she had broken the terms of her contract by leaving.
